Anthony (Tony) Scherzer, (October 19, 1946 - January 1995) [2]
was an American electrical engineer, entrepreneur and chess programmer. Along with Linda Scherzer, Tony was primary author of Bebe, a chess program and machine build around their company's SYS-10, Inc., custom mini- and mainframe processors based on bit slice technology. Bebe played almost all major tournaments in the 80s, and was one of the strongest chess machines of its time. After Tony Scherzer's early death in January 1995, SYS-10, Inc. continued, and is now a company providing custom software applications located in South Elgin, Illinois [3], owned by Linda Scherzer since 1978 [4].
