a German mathematician, computer scientist, games researcher, and professor at Technical University of Munich [2] .

Retrograde Analysis

In his 1970 Ph.D. thesis Untersuchungen über kombinatorische Spiele, Ströhlein investigated various three and four piece chess endgames, and did the first retrograde analysis implementation to construct endgame databases [3].
