iota, (Iota)
a minimalist open source chess engine by Daniel White, written in C, supporting the full rules of chess and a subset of the UCI protocol [1]. The source code consists of about 1788 characters, not counting comments or white spaces [2] . It accepts en passant, minor promotions and castling - but will never castle itself [3]. Iota performs alpha-beta, and considers material and center bonus for pawns, knights and bishops in evaluation [4].
