Kai-Fu Lee,
a Taiwanese computer scientist with expertise in artificial intelligence, technology executive, venture capitalist, and writer. He was founding president of Google China, serving from July 2005 through September 2009, and was also affiliated with Microsoft, SGI and Apple. Kai-Fu Lee graduated from Columbia University in computer science in 1983, and earned a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1988, where he worked on machine learning, pattern recognition and speech recognition, developing the CMU Sphinx system.

Bill

During the mid and late 80s, along with Sanjoy Mahajan, Kai-Fu Lee co-authored the at that time world class Othello program Bill [2], initially written in Common Lisp at Carnegie Mellon University in 1985, in 1986 rewritten in C, and in 2005 released under the GPL [3]. Bill 3.0 applies Bayesian learning of discriminant functions that automaticly combines evaluation features [4] [5].
