Fred Popowich, a Canadian AI researcher and computer scientist with a B.Sc. from University of Alberta in 1982, a M.Sc. from Simon Fraser University, and a Ph.D. in Cognitive Science from University of Edinburgh in 1989. Since then he is faculty member in the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. While affiliated with the University of Alberta, he researched on parallel search and published along with Tony Marsland on their experience with their parallel chess program Parabelle based on Ken Thompson's program TinkerBelle [2] [3]. Fred Popowich further focused on natural language processing.
