Recapture Extensions are a subset of Capture Extensions, restricted to recaptures to the same target square. A recapture is supposed to be a relatively forced move. However, some programmers consider any two consecutive captures [1], or even any capture with respect to an intermediate Zwischenzug [2], if it restores the material balance of the root as recapture, while others recently favor to restrict them to PV-nodes only [3].
