MS-DOS
MS-DOS,
and its rebranded version IBM PC-DOS were Disk Operating Systems by Microsoft for 16-bit 8086 and x86 Real mode based IBM PCs and compatibles. Microsoft first licensed, then purchased 86-DOS from Seattle Computer Products (SCP), which was modified for the IBM PC by Microsoft employee Bob O'Rear with assistance from SCP (later Microsoft) employee Tim Paterson.
