Paul Verhelst,
a Dutch computer chess expert, who published and maintained interesting chess [1] and chess programming sites [2].
Ed Schröder once mentioned the 0x88 square difference lookup as Paul Verhelst way [3], which was used and described by Paul Wiereyn [4] and, according to David Kittinger, was originally attributed to Mikhail Botvinnik [5].
