George C. Stockman,
an American computer scientist and professor emeritus at Michigan State University. In 1979 Stockman introduced SSS*, a State Space Search, Best-First algorithm, which searches fewer nodes than Alpha-Beta in fixed-depth minimax tree search [2] .
