The '''PDP-10''' was a [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mainframe_computer mainframe computer] family manufactured and sold by [[Digital Equipment Corporation]] from 1967. Its architecture was an almost identical version of the earlier [[PDP-6]] architecture, sharing the same [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36-bit 36-bit] word length and slightly extending the instruction set with improved hardware implementation. PDP-10 had 18-bit word addresses, in a so called supervisor mode, instruction addresses correspond directly to physical memory, In user mode, addresses are translated to physical memory. There are 16 general-purpose, 36-bit registers.

The PDP-10 was the foundation of the DECsystem-10 and the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DECSYSTEM-20 DECSYSTEM-20] and ran a variety of operating systems including [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOPS-10 TOPS-10], [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incompatible_Timesharing_System ITS], [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WAITS WAITS], [http://www.encyclo.co.uk/define/TYMCOM-X TYMCOM-X], [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOPS-20#TENEX TENEX], and [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOPS-20 TOPS-20] <ref>[http://tenex.opost.com/hbook.html Origins and Development of TOPS-20] by [http://www.opost.com/dlm/ Dan Murphy]</ref>.
