Bronstein became interested in [[Artificial Intelligence|artificial intelligence]] when he received his first lessons in computer chess from [[Alexander Kronrod]]. He and Bronstein's friend [[Alexander Brudno]] gave a lot of valuable knowledge about the mathematical problems in connection with writing chess programs. As a grandmaster with a great interest in this subject he was asked to be an advisor to the [[Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics]] when they played the famous [[Stanford-ITEP Match|match]] against [[Stanford University]].
