Home * Chess * Squares * Attacks
Attacks,
the offensive interpretation of squares controlled by own forces - in particular if occupied by opponent pawns or pieces, threatening to capture them.
The antonym of attack is Defense, controlling squares which are potentially or actually occupied by own pieces or pawns, with the option to recapture an attacker.
