The Tournament was the idea of the "Berlin Computer Chess Friends", Ingo Bauer, Peter Berger, Thorsten Czub, Stefan Knappe, Heiner Marxen and Volker Pittlik, and was devoted to Emanuel Lasker, supported by the Emanuel Lasker Society . The hardware was kindly provided by AMD Germany. As a kind of opening ceremony, professor Raúl Rojas from the Free University and host of the tournament, hold an exclusive lecture for all participants about Konrad Zuse's Plankalkül, including some chess routines written in it.
