=Description=
given in 1997 <ref>[https://www.game-ai-forum.org/icga-tournaments/program.php?id=9 Capture's ICGA Tournaments]</ref>:
CAPTURE is a "classical" chess program. It uses [[Alpha-Beta|alpha-beta search]] (with a [[Null Window|zero window]]), [[Check Extensions|check extensions]], [[Null Move Pruning|null-move]], [[History Heuristic|history heuristic]] at the root of the tree. The program uses [[Transposition Table|hash tables]] (tested with 64 Mb of [[Memory#RAM|RAM]] but should work with more!). The [[Move Generation|move generator]] does not use bit boards. The main chess knowledge of CAPTURE: [[Pawn Structure|pawn structures]], development and [[Mobility|mobility]] of pieces, [[Piece-Square Tables|piece placement]], some [[Endgame|endgame]] knowledge (essentially [[Pawn Endgame|pawn endgames]] and mating routines). The [[Point Value|value of pieces]] depends slightly on the number of pawns on the chessboard. The evaluation function is "made by hand" and modified according to positional tests.
