Sharky
Sharky,
an experimental chess program written by John Kominek, competing the 10th World Computer Chess Championship, 2002 in Maastricht.
Sharky used a best-first search, keeping the search tree in memory, but suffered from allocating too much memory on the fast machines during the Championship, yielding in huge slowdown of the program due to thrashing [1].
