Torsten Olaf Linß, (Torsten Olaf Linss)
a German composer, and FIDE International Master for chess composition, mathematician, professor for numerical analysis at FernUniversität Hagen, and before, until 2012 at TU Dresden. He holds a Ph.D. in 1998 from University College Cork under Martin Stynes. His research interests include parallel numerical algorithms for solving partial differential equations and finite element methods, in particular numerical solutions of convection–diffusion and singular perturbation equations. As a chess composer, he founded the German Chess problem magazine Harmonie in 1987 and is again its publisher since 2013 [2]. As avocational software developer and programmer, Torsten Linß is involved in developing chess problem related software, such as databases for chess problems, and.has further contributed to Popeye, the open source program for solving orthodox and heterodox chess problems [3] [4].
