Ruy-Lopez is a standard [[Alpha-Beta|alpha-beta]] searcher, with some innovative [[Pruning|forward pruning]] methods. The [[Evaluation|evaluation]] function is quite sophisticated and also slow. After four years programming ''Torquemada'' <ref>[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_de_Torquemada Antonio de Torquemada from Wikipedia]</ref>, a Spanish Checkers <ref>[https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/36250/spanish-checkers Spanish Checkers | Board Game | BoardGameGeek]</ref> program, we began programming Ruy-Lopez in July'97 just for fun. This is a very young program, so we have much room for improving. Currently [[SCCC 1998|Spanish Computer Chess Champion]].
