Peter Jozef Jansen,
a Belgian computer scientist and games researcher. As student at Carnegie Mellon University, he was member of the Deep Thought team [1]. His research interests were about "trappy", speculative play and using knowledge about the opponent in game-tree search. Peter worked with Jonathan Schaeffer - his thesis supervisor was Herbert Simon. Together with Fernand Gobet he wrote the pattern learning chess application CHUMP (CHUnking of Moves and Patterns), which was introduced as A Chess Program Based on a Model of Human Memory [2] at the 7th Advances in Computer Chess conference, July 1-2, 1993.
