Khan Noonien Singh [1]

NoonianChess,
a Chess Engine Communication Protocol compliant chess program by Charles Roberson, developed in the 90s and first released in 1999 [2]. NoonianChess represents the board with a 64 element array and two piece-lists [3]. Its search applies fractional extensions [4], and its evaluation features king safety considering piece tropism and adjacent open files, pawn structure, in particular backward, isolated, and passed pawns including blockade of the stop and Tarrasch rule, trapped knight and loose piece penalty [5].

Tournament Play

NoonianChess participated at the WCCC 2002 in Maastricht over the board, and further played multiple CCT Tournaments, the ACCA 2007 and ACCA 2008 Americas' Computer Chess Championships, and four times the ACCA World Computer Rapid Chess Championships, WCRCC 2007, WCRCC 2008, WCRCC 2009 and WCRCC 2010.
