Nick Pelling [1]

Nicholas John (Nick) Pelling, (alias Orlando M Pilchard)
a British software engineer and computer games programmer [2]. He holds a B.Sc. in mathematics and philosophy from University of Manchester in 1986, and a MBA in strategic management, with a thesis on knowledge and ideology in 2004 [3].

Games

Nick Pelling developed computer games for most major game platforms and home computers since the early 80s, best known as author of Arcadians for BBC Micro and Acorn Electron, and Frak!, originally developed for the same platform, published by his own 'Aardvark' software label in 1984 [4].

Chess

As well-versed practiced club chess player, Nick Pelling published the eBook Chess Superminiatures with over 100 super-short chess games all under ten moves, and plenty of carefully-graded interactive puzzles throughout [5] [6]. Somewhat longer ago, along with Arthur Norman, Nick Pelling authored Acornsoft Chess - as the name suggests published by Acornsoft in 1982 and 1983 for the BBC Micro and Acorn Electron as well. More recently, Nick Pelling contributes to the Stockfish project [7].
