Mark Hersey,
an American computer scientist and along with Mike Alexander, Fred Swartz, Victor Berman and Jack O’Keefe co-author of the chess program CHAOS [1] from University of Michigan. CHAOS was one of the strongest programs of the 70s and early 80s, using an unique, knowledge based and selective best-first, iterative widening approach [2], keeping the search tree in memory.
