Günther Schrüfer [1]

Günther Schrüfer,
a German computer scientist, chessplayer [2] and former computer chess programmer. He defended his M.Sc. on modeling Search Trees in Chess 1983 [3] and his Ph.D. on costs, qality and algorithms of minimax search in 1988 [4] at the Technical University of Braunschweig. In his 1988 paper Root Evaluation Errors: How they Arise and Propagate [5], Ingo Althöfer used Schrüfer's model limited to regular binary two-valued trees of depth n, to demonstrate how root errors arose.

Chess Programs

Along with Hans-Joachim Kraas, Günther Schrüfer is co-author of the chess programs Bobby, Bobby II and Doctor? . He is co-author of Das große Computerschachbuch (German), describing chess programming topics, and the didactic chess program Demoschach written in Basic.
