Frederic Friedel [1]

Frederic Alois Friedel,
a German graduate linguist, science-, chess- and computer chess journalist, in 1986 with game database developer Matthias Wüllenweber co-founder and participator of ChessBase [2]. With his fellow Dieter Steinwender, Frederic Friedel was publisher and editor of Computerschach und Spiele, from the first edition in 1983 until 2004.

In the late 70s and early 80s, Friedel featured computer chess in the German television, for instance the match of David Levy versus Chess 4.8, with Volker Arzt, ZDF 1979 [3]. Friedel has close relations with world's top chess players [4], and was member of Kasparov's team during his match versus Deep Blue in 1997.
