Evaluator,
a private chess program by Bill MacLaughlin [1], written in C. Evaluator played the ACM 1994, where it ran on a 486 DX4 IBM PC at 100MHz with 8MiB RAM. The 131 KiB of executable code performed 6K nodes per second [2].
