David Edward Goldberg,
an American mathematician, computer scientist, civil engineer, entrepreneur, founder and president of the consulting and coaching company ThreeJoy Associates, Inc. [2], and professor emeritus at the department of Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering (IESE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He received his Ph.D. in civil engineering in 1983 from the University of Michigan under John H. Holland, and is renowned for his seminal work on genetic algorithms,
