Chepla,
a private WinBoard compliant [1] chess engine by Mikael Bäckman, apparently a plain fail-soft alpha-beta searcher [2] with impressive search depths and nodes per second, while the former was caused by not using recapture extensions and using late move pruning [3]. Chepla's evaluation is fast and simple, uses lazy evaluation and an evaluation cache otherwise [4]. Chepla played the CCT6, CCT7 and CCT8 tournaments.
