A. Alexander Timofeev,
an Ukrainian computer scientist and systems engineer, graduated in 1977 from the Engineering and Physics Department of the Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute, with interests in database management systems, DSP, and artificial intelligence.
Computer Chess
Alexander Timofeev elaborated on Botvinnik's Pioneer project, and on Stilman's Linguistic Geometry, both topics of his chess programming site [2]. Alexander Timofeev was president of the Chess-Programming Association of the USSR, which was founded during the First Soviet Computer-Chess Championship 1988 in Ulan-Ude [3], and organized the First International Chess-Computer Tournament in the USSR 1989 held in Moscow [4].
